Permissions & privacy
Approvals stay on your devices.
Prompts you may see
- Trust / accessory approval: approve on the physical iPhone.
- Camera on macOS: used for USB capture.
- Local Network: allow if asked for wireless connectivity.
- Developer Mode and device support: needed for control and live Wi-Fi; separate from ordinary USB viewing.
Local connections
USB uses your local cable. Wi-Fi uses an authenticated local network connection. The native input helper uses a loopback-only authenticated endpoint. When enabled on the public domain, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures website visits and page performance without analytics cookies. Local previews are excluded, and Glint’s loader respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. GitHub separately reports release-file download counts; those are not unique users or confirmed installations. The website stores the chosen site theme in browser local storage. If you choose to vote in the product-interest prompt, a browser cookie remembers your vote, and the server stores a hashed random token to prevent repeat votes. No email is requested. Hosting providers may have their own operational logs.
Device records and logs
Pairing records, device identifiers, local bindings, signing material and runtime credentials stay on your Mac. Do not upload the ignored .control directory. Before sharing logs, remove identifiers, personal screen content, tokens and pairing details.
Glint is independent of Apple. It does not unlock Apple’s region-restricted iPhone Mirroring feature or approve system security dialogs for you.
